Benjamin

Tutor

Benjamin graduated from St. John’s College’s distinctive liberal arts program — equivalent to a double major in philosophy and the history of math and science, and a double minor in comparative literature and classics. He spent four years there closely studying canonical works in every field, from the Iliad to Lobachevski’s Theory of Parallels.  During his latter two years he was employed by the college as a student writing tutor. A final paper he wrote on Rousseau was one of two junior essays to receive an official commendation by the school’s faculty, and he ultimately completed and defended an undergraduate thesis on Alexis de Tocqueville. He recently completed an editorial internship at Harper’s Magazine, and has done contractual and voluntary editing for several projects in the past. As a perfect 800 verbal scorer on the SAT himself, Benjamin brings his experience helping students break down and comprehend all aspects of the verbal sections of the ACT and SAT from the foundation through to the most challenging nuances.
